Coming to a school near you...
The first phase of the wonder project will deliver a 6-unit teaching resource aimed at meeting the QCA guidelines for helping students think about origins at year 9 in Religious Education.
In mid-September we will release a three-lesson trial disc and are looking for teachers who would be interested in testing the resources with their students.
The whole resource will have six units, each of which will contain two lessons. Each unit places an origins-related question in front of the students, shows them how different people attempt to answer it, and then invites the students to think about it themselves.
The trial disc will have three lessons, one from each of the first units. The questions these cover are:
- How do you decide what is 'true'?
- How do you think the world started, and why do you think that?
- Is there a difference between scientific and religious views on origins?
Some of the lessons introduce the students to the views of different beliefs - Christianity, Hinduism, Humanism and Islam. Other lessons compare different ways that Christians address the issues.
Want to join in?
We are now looking for teachers who would be interested in receiving a copy of the trial disc. It would be great to know whether you think it works well, and whether your students were engaged by the resources.
We need feedback by the end of October.
Do send an email to info@thewonderproject.co.uk if you would like a trial disc. Please let us know where you teach and whether you are likely to be able to use some of the materials in September and October, or whether you would like to look at it with a view to using it in the future.
Know a teacher?
Also, do you think that you know someone who teaches RE and might be interested in having a look at this disc?
If so, let them know. An easy way would be to copy this e-mail to her or him (you can use the 'Pass it on' facility on the left panel).
